
Susan Chomba is the Director of Vital Landscapes at the World Resources Institute (WRI). She leads WRI's work on forest protection and sustainable management, restoration, food systems transformation and governance in Africa. Prior to joining WRI, she led multi-country research and development programmes for IFAD, USAID and ICRAF in forestry, agroforestry and rural development.
Dr. Chomba has extensive experience on the African continent for the past 15 years and a growing global reach. She holds a PhD in forest governance from the university of Copenhagen, Denmark, a double MSc. in agricultural development and agroforestry from the university of Copenhagen and Bangor university respectively; and a BSc. in forestry from Moi university in Kenya.
Dr. Chomba was named one of 16 Women Restoring the Earth in 2021 by the Global Landscape Forum (GLF).
